This devotional book for the Month of the Holy Mother was authored by Chinese Jesuit missionary Li Duo and first published in China in 1857. It was later introduced to Korea and translated into Hangul by Father Robert. The Hangul translation was first published in 1887 at the Seoul Catholic Press and underwent several reprints. The current edition was published in 1910; while the main text’s typeface remains consistent with the 1899 edition, the title ‘Seongmo Seongwol’ on the inner cover exhibits slight typographical differences. This book provides insights into Catholic devotional practices and the dissemination of Hangul movable type publications during that period.
